Book 3 in the Snapshots in History Series by Murray Pura “Wispers of a New Dawn”
Dealing with a difficult subject is always a challenge then when you throw in war and the memories that may bring up for some is really heart wrenching at times. Author Murray Pura has taken on this task with this wonderful book about the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 while wrapping this around a exciting love story with Becky Whetstone and Christian Raven.
There is a lot of factual information that even if your not into history you can’t help but be pulled into this world and look forward to Turing the next page as you find yourself absorbed in the education of our past history. Mr. Pura has made history a fun experience with something that is difficult at best. Then on top of that you will experience the wonderful love story that’s a faith jump into the sky of the unknown for these two characters. This was my favorite of the three books. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

HIS FIRST BOOK WAS GREAT,THIS ONE WAS GOOD IN THE BEGINING,KEPT ME WANTING TO READ,BUT AS I GOT INTO IT,IT SEEMED FAR-FETCHED,DID NOT ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS THE FIRST ONE
I love this series of books and I gave it a 5 star, I recommend this book and the series to anyone. Very well written and it was a suprising Amish book to me.
This book was great you don't want to put it down. I love the history in the book about World War II. It helps you see you can make it thru the rough times with God by your side and to always respect others even if yo disagree with them.
I enjoy Murray Pura as an author .I enjoyed the concept of Amish involvement in War. Their faith prevents it. I wondered how much of a stretch male participation in war time was. A search indicates that some men were forced to enlist. It is doubtful that any female Amish were involved let alone flew airplanes. But reading other Amish story lines is becoming repeatative. This was refreshing.
I loved this story and the author is very good. I have just recently been reading his books they have such good substance. The books honor the Lord. I recommend the book and the author.
This is the third book in the author’s Snapshots in History series. I loved this book also. I always enjoy reading Murray Pura. He keeps a story moving and seems very realistic. This book has the characters from book one and their children. I leads up to the events of Pearl Harbor and through that surprise attack. The book kept me engrossed so I had to keep reading until I completed it.
Murray Pura tackles a difficult subject in our time - how to reconcile the desire for peace at all costs - with evil in the world. He does it through a shunned Amish family of stunt pilots as they train fighter pilots for World War II. Rebecca's brother Nate has seen and experienced horrific treatment of the Chinese at the hands of the Japanese in pre-World War II. Their desire is to be part of whatever will put a stop to the Japanese killing. I like his premise that not all are called to be part of the war effort. Some are called to other things, and all are called to pray. This is book 2 of the series with this particular family. I plan to go back and read book 1 The Wings of Morning (Snapshots in History) since I like the family so much. There is a fair amount of factual detail on the planes and ships at Pearl Harbor before December 7th, 1941. I skimmed over this part, but I still learned a lot. I would agree with the other reviewer that Rebecca and Christian showed remarkable and maybe unlikely restraint in the scenes he paints on the beach. However, I am delighted to discover a new author (for me). Thank you to the publisher for providing a complimentary copy through netgalley in exchange for a review.
